Monday, June 23rd, is the Vigil of the Feast of the Nativity of John the Baptist, the great saint and “burning and shining light”* that came before Our Lord and prophesied of His coming.

That evening, young adults and others are invited to a 7:00 p.m. sung Traditional Latin Mass that Juventutem Michigan has been permitted to organize at St. Thomas, on the occasion of this feast.

Confessions will be heard, starting at 6:15 p.m.

Mass will be followed by a bonfire blessing and will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by the Rosary and an introduction to the Traditional Latin Mass, which Pope Benedict XVI named the “Extraordinary Form Mass” in his 2007 document permitting any pastor to allow the celebration of this liturgy.

The Mass will be celebrate by a young priest who has been in residence in Ann Arbor for about a year. Wassim Sarweh will play the organ and direct a schola of parishioners and young adults.

After Mass, everyone is welcome to the bonfire blessing on the parish plaza and then to process to Argiero’s Italian Restaurant for a Monday night party!
