Summer Pilgrimages to Cathedrals / Holy Door(s)

by Paul S on February 22, 2016

During this Holy Year of Mercy convoked by Pope Francis, the young adults of Juventutem Michigan aim to come together with young adults across the state in the course of the summer for prayer and confession at the Holy Doors at each of the seven Cathedral Churches:

St. Peter, Marquette
St. Mary, Gaylord
St. Augustine, Kalamazoo
Blessed Sacrament, Detroit
St. Andrew, Grand Rapids
St. Mary, Lansing
St. Mary of the Assumption, Saginaw

In order to make this vision a reality, we’re hosting a first prayer and planning meeting in Lansing on Laetare Sunday, March 6, 2016, and we hope to work together with young adults from each of seven dioceses.

Details on Facebook.

We will first gather at St. Mary Cathedral for the monthly (Holy Year) Holy Hour, to pray for the sanctification of young adults and to entrust the success of our endeavor to Our Lady.

After Benediction, at about 4:00 p.m., we will then head over to Church of the Resurrection, where Fr. Mattson has welcomed us to share a free meal and carry out our planning activities.

For those who can stay, at 7:00 p.m. we will pray Vespers (Mundelein Psalter) together with the parish community and then will assist with E.F. Compline at 8:00 p.m. (Polyphonically sung by Chant at Resurrection Parish) before dispersing back to our homes.

We are not planning to organize a Laetare Mass as part of our gathering and we encourage young adults to assist at Mass in their home cities before coming to the planning meeting.
